John A. DuRant, D.M.D.
Owner / Dentist
Dr. DuRant was born and raised in South Carolina. A few years after graduating from Clemson University with a degree in Biological Sciences, he and his wife moved to Philadelphia where he received his dental degree from Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry in 2017. He then moved to Charleston where he completed the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency program in 2018 at the Medical University of South Carolina. He has been practicing in South Carolina ever since.
Dr. DuRant is a member of the American Dental Association and the South Carolina Dental Association. He has served on various dental mission trips to Ecuador and Trinidad over the years with Dental Community Fellowship. He has been married to his wonderful wife, Kendall, for 11 years and they have 4 young children who keep them very busy! When he’s not in the office, you’ll find him spending time with his family and involved in his church. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, exercising and watching Clemson football.
Dr. DuRant is grateful for the opportunity to serve the Greater Charleston community and build relationships with his patients through comprehensive dental care. He strives to know each of his patients individually and work with them in a way that is comfortable, conservative and effective.
Nate Jacques
Dental Assistant
Nate is from the Lowcountry but spent his more recent years in the upstate where he attended Clemson University and graduated with a degree in Biochemistry in 2023. After graduation, he married his new bride, Haley, and they moved back to the Charleston area. Nate jumped into the dental field right away, learning a lot and excelling in his position. In his free time, Nate enjoys spending time with his wife, attending church, studying theology, and being active outdoors.
Shawndra Marrs, RDH
Dental Hygienist
Shawndra is originally from Kentucky but has lived in South Carolina for 28 years. She received her Dental Hygiene degree from Trident Technical College and has been practicing hygiene for more than 25 years. Shawndra loves getting to know her patients as well as providing them with quality dental care. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, two sons and friends, going to church, walking and shopping.
Allie Powers
Office Coordinator
Allie has moved around most of her life with the military and recently moved to Charleston with her family to settle down until her husband’s retirement from service. She spent many years in the dental field as a dental assistant but has recently taken on a different aspect of the dental world by managing administration for Cross County Dentistry. Allie has a wonderful background in dentistry and brings a wealth of knowledge to our team.
